Hi Webmaster,

EATON PICThose of you who were at the COBA dinner in 2014 may remember my talking about a publication I was working on. After a long gestation, London Plaques: 5 Fascinating Walks, has been let loose by my company, Elgar Estates Publishing.

The book takes the reader on walks past 177 plaques in the West End of London, with each page featuring images of the person commemorated, the plaque and the building, along with a biography of the person. More information is available by clicking on :-

www.commemorativeplaques.co.uk

Plaques are generally given to people who are dead. However, there are two exceptions in the book – one is a French nobleman, who was still alive when the plaque was erected, and the other is for a rock persona, who never really lived! You will have to buy the book to find out who they were!

The MP for the Cities of London and Westminster, RT Hon Mark Field, has described the book as “a masterpiece”, and George Oldham, a committee member at the RIBA, has commented that it is “an excellent read”.

It is available to COBA members at £7.50 (RRP - £12.95) plus p and p of £2.20 – a total of £9.70. [This is cheaper than buying it on Amazon!] To place an order either contact me by email by clicking on :-

Hi Doug - Nice to hear that you are keeping busy :-)

We all remember the little "Jam Session" that you conducted after the dinner (after all the "Old at Heart" members had left)

In Fact, after your speech, it was a bit of "Over-Kill" - We were spoilt.

Keep up the good work (writing) :-)

Cheers - Webby
