Brian Clegg Fitton (1939-2016) Obituary

Brian passed away (in Hospital) on the 14.07.16. He was 76 years old. He left a wife Marjorie, a son Martin (who followed his father as 1st Team Captain), a
daughter Gillian together with grandchildren.

He born in Rochdale on the first of December 1939. After passing the 'Eleven Plus Exam', he went to a Grammar School and then on to the University of Manchester.

He met Marjorie (his future Wife) at a friend's party and they were soon married. They moved to Maghull in 1963 to be nearer to Brian's work and had two children; Gillian who is also a teacher and lives in Cheltenham and Martin who is a project manager for a government child protection agency and lives in Maghull.

Brian enjoyed cruise holidays with his wife Marjorie.

Brian had been Captain of Maghull Cricket Club and since retirement (in 1995) Brian had enjoyed Golf and also been Captain of Mossock Hall Golf Club. He has also been Chairman and President, of Maghull CC. More recently he was able to watch his son and grandson play together in the same Maghull team.

Brian will be sadly missed by everyone at the club.

In his younger days Brian was a keen lacrosse player and was a top-order batsman as well as an athletic fielder.
On retiring from cricket he took up golf, joining Mossock Hall where he became club captain.

He was a keen quizzer and his team appeared on 'Eggheads' (on Television) where they narrowly lost. Having been Head of History at the Liverpool Collegiate he naturally took the history questions and took part in a lengthy tie break which was too long to show in full in the edited programme!

All our sympathies lie with his wife Marjorie, his son Martin (who followed his father as 1st Team Captain), daughter Gillian together with all his grandchildren.
