After all the torrential
rain for the last few days we were able to hold an informal lunch this
afternoon when 20 old boys and some wives enjoyed the hospitality of Lee
Park Golf Club. The sumptuous meal was prepared by the proud and
excellent Stabler Caterers and enjoyed by all present. We were pleased
to welcome some Old Boys who were with us for the first time. One making
his debut was David Jones who has kindly agreed to be the guest speaker
on 25th October 2024 when we shall be holding our AGM and Annual Dinner.
Sadly we are unable to return to our normal venue at the Athenaeum who
have hosted this event for the last 30 plus years. Due to late night
travel difficulties our Council have agreed to meet at lunchtime
following suggestions made by a number of members. Lee Park has
therefore been chosen and they are delighted to host us. The cost is
likely to be £33 for a three course roast dinner plus tea/coffee and
gratuities. The Club will allow us privacy and offers free car parking.
A licensed bar is available.
Today’s event presented a great opportunity to exchange our experiences
at School and meet fellow former pupils in a pleasant and friendly
environment. I am sure that they all enjoyed themselves. I expect to
arrange another lunch meeting at the Artists Club before summer and will
issue invitations and full details in due course. All old boys are
welcome to attend and if you wish to be added to my list please confirm
your email by sending a message to p: 07960950092.
Nearly 40 years since School closed and I find it astonishing that we
still have a viable number who are able to support our meetings. Our
Council really do welcome and appreciate your continuing support. Please
do your very best to cotntinue
